About the Editor

Exploring The Night Sky was founded by Dave Anscombe, whose passion for astronomy began in childhood when his grandmother gave him a pair of binoculars for his birthday.

Looking up at the stars through those binoculars sparked a lifelong fascination with the Universe.

As that interest grew, Dave purchased his first telescope and discovered the excitement of observing the Moon’s craters, Jupiter’s moons and Saturn’s rings.

Over the years, he has been involved with local astronomy societies and has continued to expand his knowledge of observing techniques, telescopes, binoculars and astrophotography.

Today, that experience is shared through Exploring The Night Sky, with the goal of helping newcomers avoid common mistakes, choose suitable equipment and enjoy one of the most rewarding hobbies there is.

Whether you are taking your very first steps into astronomy or looking to build on your existing knowledge, we hope Exploring The Night Sky becomes a trusted companion on your journey through the cosmos.

Clear Skies!
